Bio & History



Stefan Nichols played 5 years of Junior A hockey and continued his passion for the position into coaching. He has been a professional goaltending consultant for the past 17 years developing goalies of all ages. Some of his coaching experiences include

  • Hockey Canada, “Program of Excellence” goaltending instructor and evaluator 2014-2015 World Junior and Under 17 teams.
  • Hockey Canada, “Goalie Coach Certification” instructor and collaborator
  • Current Director of Goalie Coach Mentoring for Hockey Eastern Ontario, formerly ODHA
  • Current Sheffield Steeldogs British Premier league goalie coach
  • NCAA and CIS Men and Woman goaltending consultant (Cornell, Middlebury, Laurentian, Concordia, Ottawa…)
  • CCHL JrA Senators Goalie coach 2009 - 2012
  • Ottawa Sting, Gloucester Rangers, South End Capitals, Ottawa Center, Orleans Blues, OGHA and many other association goaltending mentor
  • Author and Producer of “Goaltending Mastery” 4 part instructional DVD series
  • 7 years OCDSB full time teacher (currently on Sabbatical)


Stefan has a track record of bringing goalies to the next level of their play. His knowledge and applications of the technical and tactical elements of goaltending provide his students a solid foundation to develop skills that will be useful throughout their careers. Stefan makes a point of building professional relationships with each student at Goaler U. Stefan identifies the goalies needs and tailors his sessions towards challenging the students to reach their highest potential.

Stefan is also a fluently bilingual teacher with the Ottawa Carleton District School Board which provides him the communication and teaching skills to educate the different individuals in all of his sessions.
